Behavioral Issues

Definition and Symptoms

A behavior disorder is any persistent and repetitive pattern of behavior that violates societal norms or rules, seriously impairs a person’s functioning, or creates distress in others. The term is used in a very general sense to cover a wide range of disorders or syndromes.

Treatment

Therapies are often used to manage disruptive symptoms of behavior disorders. Examples of treatment include cognitive behavioral therapy, psychotherapy, group therapy, residential programs, and outpatient rehab and treatment programs. Prescription and over-the-counter medications may also be used in conjunction with therapy.
