Definition and Symptoms

Suicidal ideation risk assessment is a process of determining how seriously someone is thinking about and/or planning for a suicide. It involves the following five steps: identify Risk Factors, identify protective factors, conduct suicide inquiry, determine Risk Level, determine Intervention.

Treatment

Treatment of suicidal thoughts and behavior depends on your specific situation, including your level of suicide risk and what underlying problems may be causing your suicidal thoughts or behavior. Emergency intervention may be necessary. Additional treatment may include psychotherapy, medications, and residential stay.
